Supporters of the Belarusian opposition have taken to the streets of Minsk for an unauthorised march, a RIA Novosti correspondent has reported.
At 18:00 (15:00 GMT), protesters gathered in Freedom Square, where two cathedrals are located, demanding the release of arrested protesters and political prisoners.
Law enforcement in Minsk has taken a group of journalists who planned to cover the unauthorised opposition rally in the centre of the city to a police station "to establish their identity", according to a police spokesperson.
Following this, the police have begun to urge those who have gathered in Freedom Square to disperse.
