Donald Trump is heading for victory in the 2020 November presidential election in the US, buoyed by the "off the charts" enthusiasm displayed by his supporters, says renowned filmmaker Michael Moore.
The author of Fahrenheit 9/11 and other award-winning documentaries, a staunch Democrat supporter, warned in a Facebook post that President Trump’s reelection campaign was wielding massive momentum in key battleground states such as Minnesota and Michigan.
Cautioning that Trump was currently running alongside or ahead of Democratic rival Joe Biden in key areas, according to polls, Moore asked the rhetorical question:
"Are you ready for a Trump victory? Are you mentally prepared to be outsmarted by Trump again?”
He proceeded to urge the electorate to shake off their “complacency” and act if they wanted to “get rid of Trump”.
Offering what he claimed was a “reality check”, Moore reminded of his prediction dating to the 2016 presidential election, when number-crunching by leading US polls had designated Democrat Hillary Clinton as a firm favourite to win the race to the White House.
"I’m warning you almost 10 weeks in advance. The enthusiasm level for the 60 million in Trump’s base is OFF THE CHARTS! For Joe, not so much… Don’t leave it to the Democrats to get rid of Trump. YOU have to get rid of Trump. WE have to wake up every day for the next 67 days and make sure each of us are going to get a hundred people out to vote. ACT NOW!"
Proving his point, Moore cited unspecified CNN polling of registered voters in August, asserting that "Biden and Trump were in a virtual tie" at 47 percent in Minnesota and the current US President "has closed the gap to 4 points" in Michigan.
As he reminded the Democrats of how Hillary Clinton had been a “no-show” in a number of states, which swung around to cast their votes for Trump, Moore pointed out that the Biden campaign had recently announced the former vice-president would not be visiting Michigan.
"Sound familiar?" writes Moore.
‘Human Molotov Cocktail’
Prior to the 2016 presidential election, Moore made a town hall speech in Ohio where he predicted a Trump victory, writes The Hill.
To prove his point at the time, Moore told the audience that Trump had gone to the Detroit economic club and told Ford motor executives:
"If you close these factories as you're planning to do in Detroit, and build them in Mexico, I'm going to put a 35 percent tariff on those cars when you send them back and nobody is going to buy them.”
According to the filmmaker, this was “music to the ears” of “hurting” people in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, whose lives had been “ruined by the elite”.
"Corporate America hates Trump. Wall Street hates Trump. The career politicians hate Trump. The media hates Trump… And it's why every beaten down, nameless, forgotten working stiff, who used to be part of what was called the middle class, loves Trump. He is the human Molotov cocktail that they've been waiting for. The human hand grenade that they can legally throw into the system that stole their lives from them."
Moore had warned in 2016 that on election day "the dispossessed" would walk into the voting booth and "put a big f------ X in the box by the name of the man who has threatened to upend and overturn the very system that has ruined their lives: Donald J. Trump."

With the November election drawing nearer, a RealClearPolitics poll index showed Democratic candidate Joe Biden up 47.3 percent over Trump's 44.7 percent in Michigan and 49.3 percent to 44 per cent in Minnesota.
In another survey, carried out by the Trafalgar Group, Trump and Biden were virtually tied on 47 percent in Minnesota, with the president leading his opponent 47 percent to 45 percent in Michigan.
