The Syrian Constitutional Committee (SCC) resumed its work in Geneva on 24 August following a nine-month break amid the spread of coronavirus. The committee, however, managed to hold only one session as three COVID-19 cases were confirmed among the members of the delegations.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is meeting UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen in Moscow this Thursday.

The two officials are expected to discuss the work of the Syria Constitutional Committee in Geneva, which is attempting to create conditions for a political solution under the mediation of Pedersen.

It's the first meeting after the committee suspended its work last week after several delegates tested positive for COVID-19.
