The Saudi-led coalition forces in Yemen said they have intercepted an explosive drone launched in the direction of the kingdom earlier on Thursday.
A spokesman for the coalition was quoted by the state-run SPA news agency as saying that the drone had been launched at civilian targets in the region of Khamis Mushair, close to the border with Yemen.
The drone was destroyed, the agency added.
Meanwhile, Houthi militants claim to have achieved a "precise impact" in drone attack on a Saudi airport. According to a Houthi military spokesman, as quoted by Reuters, the forces targeted the Abha airport in Saudi Arabia and achieved the target.
This has been one of the dozens of incidents which took place in the region earlier this month amid continuing military conflict between the government forces and the armed Houthi political opposition in Yemen. The Saudi-led coalition conducts regular airstrikes against Houthi positions at the request of Yemen's president-in-exile, Abdrabuh Mansour Hadi, beginning in March 2015.
