The official also slammed Washington's threats against Germany's Mukran port, where pipe-laying operations are conducted, as "heinous."
Nord Stream 2 is a 1,230-kilometre-long pipeline worth $10.5 billion which is expected to double the existing 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year capacity of the Nord Stream network. Nord Stream 2 is a joint venture between Russia's Gazprom and several major Western European energy companies.
