Less than 24 hours after an elected representative of a local body was killed in Budgam district of India’s Kashmir valley, Babar Qadri, a leading lawyer in Srinagar city, was shot at by unidentified gunmen on Thursday evening.
He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injures before getting medical attention, local media reported.

According to information given to Parliament by the federal Home Ministry during the session which has just concluded, there have been 96 suspected militant attacks between January and August this year, claiming the life of 170 suspected militants, 44 security personnel and 21 civilians.
