A micro-moon is a small-scale full moon when the natural satellite is at its farthest distance from Earth. The moon is the fifth largest satellite in the Solar System and by far the biggest among planetary astronomical bodies relative to the size of the planet that it orbits.

A live broadcast from the Iranian capital, Tehran, shows a rare harvest micromoon light up the night skies over the city.

The full moon also called the harvest moon that takes place nearest to the fall equinox, shines in the sky on the night of Thursday, 1 October. As the Moon gets close to the lunar apogee, or the point at which the Moon is farthest from Earth, a rare phenomenon called a micromoon occurs.
