On Monday, 2 November, Germany introduced a month-long lockdown, with pubs, restaurants, museums, and theatres being ordered to close and large events banned, while people have been asked to stay at home whenever possible.

Sputnik is live from Leipzig, Germany, where a mass protest against coronavirus restrictions is being held, despite a ban on mass events. A counter-demonstration is planned to take place in the city on the same day.

In the past few days, Germany registered over 20,000 cases daily, with the total count exceeding 650,000, and the death toll of 11,240.
