As the media, along with world leaders and global celebrities have begun referring to Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden as the "president-elect", the Trump campaign has been insisting that the election was rigged and demanded that what they describe as only the "legal" votes be counted.

The current first lady of the United States, Melania Trump, tweeted on Sunday that "the American people deserve fair elections", demanding the counting of what she characterized as only the "legal" votes, prompting a wave of condemnation from netizens.

"The American people deserve fair elections. Every legal - not illegal - vote should be counted. We must protect our democracy with complete transparency", Melania tweeted.

Twitterati immediately lashed at the first lady, bombarding her with reminders that Trump lost his re-election and has to leave the office - even though the official results of the US election are yet to be announced, while media in the US have projected Biden to win the Oval Office.

Users piqued Melania, saying that she is supposed to convince Trump to concede and that would be "the only useful thing you did as FLOTUS".

Someone responded to by parodying Trump.

Some attacked her over her career as a model and has "illegal citizenship".

Others claimed that Melania in fact cannot wait to leave the White House, also referring to allegations that she is soon to divorce Trump.

As the media, world leaders and global celebrities congratulate Joe Biden and refer to him the "president-elect", the Trump campaign has been insisting there was election fraud, and have filed a handful of lawsuits to challenge the called election results in court.
