Following deadly riots at the US capitol building last week, some US lawmakers will call on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke Section 4 of the 25th Amendment which would allow for the forced removal of Trump from office over accusations that he is "unfit" for the presidency.

Delivering a speech in Texas on Tuesday, the outgoing US president, Donald Trump, said that he is not worried by efforts to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office or attempts by House Democrats to initiate what would be his second impeachment.

"The 25th Amendment is of zero risk to me but it will come back to haunt Joe Biden and the Biden administration", Trump said, speaking in front of a southern border wall. "As the expression goes, be careful what you wish for."

Trump denounced last week's violent protests on the Capitol Hill that left five people dead, saying that "we believe in the rule of law not rioting".

Trump also said that "free speech is under assault like never before", apparently referring to his bans by social media after the deadly capitol riots.

"The impeachment hoax is a continuation of the greatest and most vicious witch hunt in the history of our country and is causing tremendous, anger, division and pain, [...] which is very dangerous for the USA", he asserted.

Capitol Mayhem and Its Aftermath

On Tuesday, the House will vote on a resolution to ask Vice President Mike Pence to invoke Section 4 of the 25th Amendment, legislation allowing to declare Trump "unfit" for the presidency and make Pence the acting president. On Wednesday, a vote to impeach the outgoing president an unprecedented second time will take place.

Calls for Trump to resign continue, as he is accused of "inciting" the deadly riots at the capitol building - something that he denied, insisting that he wanted "no violence" on US streets.

As unrest at the capitol building unfolded, Trump, after 90 minutes, took to his now-suspended Twitter account to urge rioters to "go home", while suggesting that those who broke the law do not represent the country.

After the Capitol riots that took 5 lives, including that of a police officer, three members of the Trump Cabinet announced their resignation.

Most recently, former Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf stepped down from his position, joining Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.
