In 2018, Iran filed a lawsuit against the United States, claiming that Washington had undermined the 1955 Treaty of Amity, Economic Relations, and Consular Rights by re-imposing sanctions against Tehran.

Sputnik is live from The Hague in the Netherlands, where the International Court of Justice is delivering a verdict in the sanctions spat between the United States and Iran.

Iran sued the US for breaching the 1955 Treaty of Amity, Economic Relations, and Consular Rights, arguing that the reinstatement of sanctions went against the accord.

The US has insisted that the treaty is no longer valid and that Iran's accusations have nothing to do with it.
