Facebook and Instagram appeared to be down for many users around the world on Thursday, according to Downdetector, an outage monitoring website.
People were having trouble when trying to access their newsfeed or log in. The majority of those who reported issues with the platforms were experiencing total blackout of Facebook, with the website returning the message "Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can".
Regarding Instagram, over 70% of the users who reported issues had problems with the newsfeed, Downdetector noted.
"We couldn't connect to Instagram. Make sure you're connected to the internet and try again", the message said when users tried to access Instagram.

Facebook is down. Please check in on your parents, who may be unable to survive for 15 minutes without the ability to confirm if your cousin is still goth.
