According to preliminary reports, the bomb went off near a demonstration close to the Afghan border, near Chaman, in the province of Balochistan.
At least 6 people died, while 12 were wounded in the attack. After the explosion, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
"It was an improvised explosive device which went off as participants began to disperse", Tariq Mengal, a senior local administration official in Chaman, told the press.

Per local news networks, citing police, the bomb targeted the car of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party official Molana Abdul Qadir Loni, but he was not killed or wounded by the explosion.
