According to preliminary reports, the aircraft didn't respond in time to a planned communication session.

At 9:45 (Moscow time) [6:45 GMT], an Il-38 anti-submarine aircraft of the Pacific Fleet’s aviation flew from the Elizovo Airfield to the area of the alleged crash of the aircraft", Voskresensky said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Rescuers have located the debris of the An-26 aircraft that went missing on Tuesday in Russia's Kamchatka Territory, the Federal Air Transport Agency Rosaviatsiya said.
The agency stated that the wreckage was found about 4-5 kilometres [2-3 miles] from the runway on the side of the coastline.
Special rescue vehicles and some 26 crew were dispatched to the crash site, Rosaviatsya said, adding that the rescue efforts are being hampered by the peculiarities of the terrain there.
