China Tests Underwater Robotic Vehicle Able to Fire Torpedoes Without Human Control - Reports
According to the report, the UUVs were developed in studies over a decade ago and successfully used artificial intelligence to locate and torpedo a mock submarine.
The experts, led by Professor Liang Guolong, reportedly stated that the necessities of future underwater warfare present "new development opportunities for the unmanned platforms."
While commercial maritime firms and navies already deploy UUVs, they have never been used in combat.
