WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - Two leading American obstetricians’ groups have strongly recommended that all pregnant women vaccinate against COVID-19.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) issued a joint appeal to pregnant women, stating that the vaccination has been proved to be safe during pregnancy by tens of thousands of reports.
"In making the strong recommendation in support of vaccination during pregnancy, both national organizations emphasize concerns about significant increases in COVID-19 cases due to the Delta variant and the regional low rates of vaccination in states across the country," they said in a Friday statement.
India's new Health Minister Mansukh Mandviya on Saturday took to Twitter and informed that 15 percent of the total "Emergency COVID Response Package" has been sent to all of the nation's states and union territories in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
"$245,632 (Rs 1,827.80 crore) (15% of the total amount of the "Emergency COVID Response Package") fixed by the central government to fight against COVID-19 has been sent to the states and UTs", Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted in Hindi.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Australia has introduced emergency lockdown for at least three days in more than 10 territories in the state of Queensland, including its capital, Brisbane, Queensland’s Deputy Premier Steven Miles announced on Saturday.
"11 LGAs [local government areas] will go into a snap three day lockdown from 4pm [06:00 GMT] tonight, following a number of new locally acquired cases", Miles said on Facebook.
