The source of the fire is unknown. According to media reports, at least two people have been injured in the incident.
An ongoing fire has engulfed the rooftop of the St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Queens, New York, social media reports said on Friday.
Fire personnel believe that the fire had originated on the rooftop. Staff and patients were being evacuated.
Footage from the scene shows an enormous black smoke rising from the building.

Fire personnel report the fire appears to have originated on the rooftop. Hospital staff and patients are evacuating the structure.

According to the official website, the building had been undergoing renovations to expand capacity since it received a $10.151 million grant from the New York State Department of Health in 2015.
