The K-Pop phenomenon has won in the same two categories for three years in a row.
BTS won "Best Group", "Best K-Pop", and "Song of Summer" for their track "Butter" at the 2021 MTV VMAs in New York on 12 September. This year, the K-Pop act was nominated for a total of 7 categories setting a record for "the most nominations on its own".
"Group of the Year" and "Best K-Pop" awards have belonged to the group every year since 2019. They were previously nominated for five different awards such as "Song of the Year", "Best Pop", "Best K-Pop", "Best Choreography", and "Best Editing".
Unfortunately, in light of COVID-19 restrictions, the band couldn't attend the ceremony but left a message thanking fans for their support and appreciation.
BTS, along with Olivia Rodrigo and Lil Nas X, became the owners of the highest number of crowns this year.
Fans have since taken to social media to express their support.
