Colorado Ravaged by 'Most Destructive' Wildfires in State's History

Due to strong winds in Boulder County, Colorado, several communities were engulfed in wildfires. This led to the declaration of a state of emergency in the region.
The string of wildfires that hit the state has brought unprecedented destruction to the region's infrastructure. Around 30,000 people were evacuated from the city of Louisville and the town of Superior before the communities were hit by the Marshall Fire, which destroyed 500 houses and over 25 square kilometres of land by New Year's Eve.
The blazes reached an unprecedented level, with Steve Fenberg, Colorado Senate Majority Leader, calling the Marshall Fire “the most destructive wildfire in Colorado history”.
Strong winds of up to 105 mph (185 km/h) are fanning flames across the state amid a historic drought.
So far, the most powerful wildfire in Colorado history was the 2013 fire, in which 511 homes were burned and destroyed.
Have a look at the consequences of the wildfires in Sputnik's gallery.
