The XXIV Olympic Winter Games officially opened on 4 February in China. The ceremony was held at the Beijing National Stadium, popularly known as the Bird's Nest, and was attended by China's President Xi Jinping who officially declared the Games open.
The opening ceremony was also attended by more than a dozen world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan.
