Russia has also repeatedly condemned foreign shipments of weapons to Ukraine, arguing that it prolongs the conflict. The Kremlin accused western countries of turning Ukraine into a front for its attempts to undermine Russia and of willingness to fight until the "last Ukrainian standing".
Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned foreign countries against trying to intervene in the conflict in Ukraine and posing strategic threats for Russia, vowing that Moscow will swiftly respond otherwise.
"We have all the tools for this. The kind that no one else can boast of right now. And we won't brag. We will just use them if needed", Putin said.
Putin went on to accuse foreign powers of pushing Ukraine towards direct confrontation with Russia, and noted that plans for attack on the Donbass republics and Crimea were described in recent Ukrainian doctrines. He said that Western countries used Russophobes and neo-Nazis to turn Ukraine into "anti-Russia".
"Our foes fostered the emergence of a new geopolitical weapon. Actually, it is not new, but [they] certainly gave it new strength, new momentum", he said.
The Russian president stated that the recent events, such as the expansion of bio-laboratories in Ukraine, Kiev's attempts to secure the right to possess nuclear weapons and constant shipments of weapons to Ukraine were all part of foreign powers "cynical plans". He added that the Ukrainian people were all expendable in this plan.
Putin ordered the start of the special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, citing the request for assistance from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), which had been reporting intensified shelling from Ukrainian military. The president said that the operation was launched to end the suffering of the Donbass people, which had lasted for eight years.
