18:30 GMT 23.05.2022 (Updated: 20:37 GMT 23.05.2022) WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - The lockdown initially enacted at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) at the Twentynine Palms base in California has been lifted after earlier reports surfaced of shots fired.
An updated
statement from the Combat Center's social media account revealed that the lockdown alert had been cleared after officials determined that a firearm has been "inadvertently discharged."
"As of 1220 PM the MCAGCC Shelter In Place order has been lifted. The installation is secure and base personnel are free to resume activity," reads the center's tweeted update. "No injuries have been reported."
Officials further detailed that the incident remains under investigation.
