On February 24, Moscow launched a special military operation in Ukraine, after Kiev intensified attacks against the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. President Vladimir Putin stressed that the op aims to end the eight-year-long war, waged by Kiev against people of Donbass, noting that Ukraine's actions in the region amount to genocide.
Earlier in July, the MoD announced that the Russian forces had liberated the territory of the LPR and the next goal was to push Ukrainian troops away from the DPR, liberating the entire Donbass region. At the same time, Kherson authorities noted that Kiev's forces have made another unsuccessful attempt to break through the defense line in the region.

Ukraine Receives 5 Stormer HVM Air Defense Systems From UK - Reports
First five Stormer HVM missile systems for air defense produced and sent to Ukraine by the United Kingdom have arrived, Ukrainian media reported on Monday.
The five weapon units have already been deployed to the front and will be used in a Ukrainian "counteroffensive," the UNIAN news agency said on Telegram.
In April, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the provision of 100 million pounds ($130 million) worth of military equipment to Ukraine, including Starstreak anti-aircraft missiles for the Stormer HVM systems. According to Ukrainian media, the Starstreak missiles in the package count hundreds.
The main feature of Stormer HVM is that the attack range is up to 18 kilometers (11 miles) and the system can be used as air defense with semi-automatic laser guidance. It is essentially "invisible" to on-board radar sensors mounted on enemy aircraft and helicopters, since there is no radar station on this air defense system.
