WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - US and Taliban* delegations during talks in Uzbekistan discussed accelerating ongoing efforts to tap $3.5 billion in Afghan central bank reserves to help the people of Afghanistan amid the urgent humanitarian crisis, the State Department said in a press release.
"The two sides discussed ongoing efforts to enable the $3.5 billion in licensed Afghan central bank reserves to be used for the benefit of the Afghan people," the release said on Thursday. "The United States underscored the need to accelerate the work on these efforts."
