On Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry warned that Ukraine is preparing a false flag attack on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (NPP) to coincide with UN Chief Antonio Guterres' Ukraine visit, scheduled for Friday.
The Russian Defense Ministry has presented a map with the possible consequences of Kiev's false flag attack on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (NPP).
According to the Russian MoD, “the Ukrainian side, together with their US handlers, tries to play the card and cause, in their opinion, a minor accident at the Zaporozhye NPP, disrupting its normal and safe operation and pointing the finger at Russia".
According to the Russian MoD's forecast, if an accident at the Zaporozhye NPP does take place, radioactive substances will engulf Poland, Germany and Slovakia.
Such substances will also cover Scandinavia, with the release of 25% of the contents of at least one reactor of the NPP, according to the Russian MoD.
If the NPP's standby diesel generators and mobile pumps fail in the event of an emergency, the facility's active zone will overheat and the reactor units will be destroyed, which will be accompanied by the release of radioactive substances into the atmosphere. These would then spread over hundreds of kilometers, according to the MoD’s forecast.
The MoD suggested that all this may lead to the mass migration of the population and will have more catastrophic consequences than the looming energy crisis in Europe.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Kiev aims to use the provocation at the Zapaorozhye NPP to create an exclusion zone of up to 18 miles (30 kilometers) and trigger the deployment of international forces to the area, as well as allow the country to accuse Russia of nuclear terrorism.
"The ultimate goal of the provocation is the creation of an exclusion zone of up to 30 kilometers, the introduction of international forces and foreign observers into the NPP's territory, as well as the accusation of the Russian armed forces of nuclear terrorism," Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, the head of the radiation, chemical and biological defense of the Russian armed forces, said on Thursday.

Russian MoD: Kiev Preparing Provocation at Zaporozhye NPP During UN Secretary General's Visit
Earlier on Thursday, Russian MoD spokesman Igor Konashenkov told reporters that Kiev plans to stage a false flag attack on the Zaporozhye NPP during Friday's visit to Ukraine by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

He added that on August 19, the 44th Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine may launch artillery strikes on the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP from firing positions located in the city of Nikopol. Konashenkov stressed that "the blame for the consequences of the strikes will be laid on the Russian Armed Forces."

He spoke as the Ukrainian forces continue to launch missile attacks on the Zaporozhye NPP, accusing Moscow of the shelling, something that Russia's UN Envoy Vasily Nebenzya described as "absurd accusations", given the fact that the NPP is being controlled by Russian armed forces.
This comes as Russia continues its special operation to demilitarize and de-Nazify Ukraine, which was ordered by President Vladimir Putin on February 24 following a request from the Donbass republics to protect them from Kiev’s atrocities.
The Zaporozhye NPP, which is the largest nuclear generation facility in Europe, contains six VVER-1000 pressurized light water reactors putting out a total of 5,700 MWe of power.
