Russian energy giant Rosneft and Mongolia have agreed to expand cooperation and coordinated all issues related to the supply of oil and oil products to China, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.

During a bilateral meeting with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), Putin proposed to discuss gas supplies through the territory of Mongolia to China.

"Now we are talking about a possible realization of a major infrastructure project, that is the supply of Russian gas to China through the territory of Mongolia. Just now, an hour ago, Rosneft CEO [Igor Sechin] told me that as a result of his working trip to Mongolia, agreements were reached on expanding cooperation. And in this area, as far as I know, all issues related to the supply of oil and oil products have been agreed," Putin said.

Earlier in the day, Russian energy giant Gazprom said that CEO Alexey Miller had discussed with Oyun-Erdene the construction of the Soyuz Vostok pipeline set to deliver gas to China via Mongolia.

The Russian economy managed to withstand the onslaught of harsh sanctions imposed by the West and quickly stabilized, a top Chinese official said on Wednesday.

"We note with satisfaction that, under the leadership of [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin, the Russian economy was not crushed by the harsh sanctions of the US and its proxies. In a very short time it stabilized and demonstrated stress tolerance," Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, said at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller has met with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene and discussed the construction of the Soyuz Vostok pipeline set to deliver gas to China via Mongolia, the Russian company said on Wednesday.

"Alexey Miller and ... Oyun-Erdene highly appreciated the pace of implementation of the Soyuz Vostok gas pipeline construction project," the company said in a statement.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). The EEF takes place on September 5-8 in Vladivostok. The Sputnik news agency is an information partner of the forum.

"The presentation of Aurus Komendant will take place on September 29 in Moscow at VDNKh," Manturov said.

Earlier, the Paks-2 NPP project received a license for the construction of nuclear units.

Russia and China are working on investment projects worth overall about $160 billion, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's First Asian Department Georgy Zinovyev said in an interview with Sputnik.

"The portfolio of the specialized intergovernmental commission on investment cooperation includes 79 projects worth about $160 billion," Zinovyev said.

"Unlike the United States, where an atmosphere of hostility and suspicion is created around investments from China, Russia welcomes investments from China and tries to create a favorable regime for them. Friendly political relations between our countries provide stable conditions for promoting and expanding such cooperation," he said.
