US Media Improves Forecast of Republican Majority in US House of Representatives to 222 Seats
US media has improved its forecast for Republicans' results in midterm elections to the Congress on Thursday, projecting that they will take 222 seats in the House of Representatives.

The broadcaster forecast Republicans would get 222 seats and Democrats 213 seats. The forecast's margin of error is seven mandates, media added. On Wednesday, the broadcaster projected the GOP to secure 220 seats and Democrats 215 seats.

In the Senate, Republicans are projected to win 49 seats and Democrats 48, with two races in Arizona and Nevada still uncalled and the race in Georgia advancing to runoff on December 6, since neither of the two leading candidates got over 50% of the vote.

All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate were up for election this year, in addition to various state-level and local positions.

Maryland, Missouri Legalize Marijuana, 3 Other US States Reject Legalization Efforts
Voters in Maryland and Missouri have passed measures to legalize recreational marijuana for people over 21-years old during the midterm elections, while three others US states have rejected legalization efforts.

Maryland voted to legalize marijuana starting in July 2023 in a vote of 65.5% to 34.5%. Missouri passed their legalization measure in a vote of 53.1% to 46.9%, according to New York Times election data.

North Dakota, South Dakota and Arkansas all rejected ballot measures to legalize marijuana.

Colorado, the first state in the United States to legalize marijuana in 2012, had a ballot measure to decriminalize and regulate certain psychedelic plants and fungi. The Times has yet to call a final result, with 80% of the votes in. The measure stands at 51% in favor to 49% against.

Biden Interested in Where Democrats End Up After Midterms Finalized - House Campaign Head
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - US President Joe Biden is interested to see where the midterm race results end up after votes are tabulated and the elections finalized, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee head Sean Patrick Maloney said on Wednesday.

"I think like all of us, he’s very interested in where we end up. It’s better than anyone thought, and that’s good for him," Maloney said during a press conference when asked about his conversation with Biden earlier.

Maloney praised Biden for his administration’s work, but said it is "not perfect." Biden has not accomplished everything he would like to as president yet, Maloney said. Nevertheless, the Biden administration is making progress, Maloney added.

Despite Democrats performing better than expected in the midterm elections, Maloney lost his race in New York to Republican challenger Michael Lawler 49.4% to 50.6%.

GOP Senate Candidate Oz Calls Fetterman to Concede in Pennsylvania Race
HARRISBURG, November 9 (Sputnik) – Republican candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz called his Democratic opponent John Fetterman to concede in the close Senate race in Pennsylvania, Fetterman’s spokesperson Joe Calvello said on Wednesday.

“This morning at 9:30 Dr. Oz called John Fetterman to concede,” Calvello said in a tweet.

Democrat Fetterman is projected to win the race after 93% of ballots have been counted.

Earlier in the day, Fetterman said in a tweet that he “will be the next US senator from Pennsylvania.”

Support for Fetterman from several key demographic groups, including minority and young voters, helped him win the Senate seat, according to an exit poll.

Fetterman won 90% of black voters, 70% of voters under 30, and 67% of Latino voters, the exit poll found.

Fetterman also performed well with voters who listed abortion as their top issue, winning 78% of the group.

US Midterm Congressional Elections Show Country's Split - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The midterm elections to the US Congress have showed that the country is "seriously split" and that the Americans consider the voting results rigged, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.
"The vote in the midterm congressional elections has confirmed what has been obvious for a long time: the United States is split, seriously split," Zakharova told a press briefing.
The archaic US electoral system does not guarantee the legitimacy of the electoral process, Russia's foreign ministry spokeswoman said, adding that US voters did not trust the elections results and considered them rigged, especially given the experience of the 2020 US presidential election associated with numerous "scandalous stories."
"The current fight for control of the legislature is another manifestation of a deep civil conflict and violation of all democratic procedures in the run-up to the struggle for the White House in 2024," Zakharova said.

Trump 'Livid' After 'Disappointing' Results for Republicans in Midterms – Reports
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Former US President Donald Trump is "livid" and "screaming at everyone" following disappointing results for the Republicans in the midterm elections, US media reported on Wednesday, citing a Trump adviser.

Although Republicans were favored to win the House of Representatives going into Election Day, the party has yet to secure a majority as of Wednesday morning. The Senate likewise remains a toss-up.

Trump endorsed a number of Republican candidates around the country, some of whom were defeated by their Democratic opponents.

"They were all bad candidates," the report cited the adviser as saying. "Candidates matter."

This adviser added that Trump would unlikely delay his expected presidential campaign announcement next week because "it’s too humiliating to delay," while many unknowns remain.

Democrats are "outperforming" midterm expectations, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said earlier in the day.

Tabulation to determine control of the House and Senate continues in several key states, including Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and Wisconsin.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - US Republican Sen. Ron Johnson will win reelection in the state of Wisconsin, US media projected on Wednesday morning.

Georgia Senate Race May Head to Runoff as No Candidate Receiving 50% of Votes
The senate elections in Georgia may go to a second round normally held on December 6, since none of the candidates received over 50% of the vote, according to the results of the ballots count.

After processing 98% of the ballots, Georgia's incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock has gained 49.3%, Republican Herschel Walker 48.6%.

"We are not sure if this journey is over today or if there is still a little work yet to do," Warnock said, addressing his supporters in Atlanta.

Local rules stipulate that the elections to go to a runoff if none of the candidates managed to overcome the 50% benchmark necessary to win the race outright. Given that the race is too close to call, the second round of elections in Georgia may be decisive for determining which party will control the upper house of US Congress.
