Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine in February, after Ukraine increased attacks against the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s republics. President Vladimir Putin stressed that the op aimed to stop the eight-year-long war, waged by Kiev against the people of Donbass.
Russian forces have been targeting Ukraine's military and energy infrastructure in high-precision strikes since October 10, two days after the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, which, according to Moscow, was carried out by the Ukrainian special services.
On Friday, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that almost half of the country's energy system has not been operating due to Russia's missile strikes.

CSTO Secretary General Says NATO Support to Ukraine May Expand Conflict
CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said on Wednesday that NATO's support to Kiev may cause an expansion and escalation of the conflict because of other countries' participation in it.

"A large-scale support for Ukraine by the North Atlantic Alliance and other states poses a threat of expansion of the conflict, including through the involvement of other states," Zas said at a CSTO meeting in Yerevan.

The secretary general also said that NATO member states were increasing military contingents in Eastern Europe, improving military infrastructure, approaching the western borders of the CSTO area of responsibility, adding that it "creates additional challenges, including for the CSTO."

Moscow Insists UN is Hiding Behind Opaque Wording in Assessing Execution of Russian Soldiers
The United Nations is "hiding behind opaque phrases" when assessing the footage of the Ukrainian military shooting dead Russian PoWs in Donbas, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.
On November 19, UN spokesperson Farhan Haq said that the UN was calling for a full investigation into human rights violations in the context of reports about 10 Russian troops allegedly executed by Ukrainian forces.

"In this case, they are hiding behind opaque phrases, avoiding any assessment of the facts," Zakharova said on Telegram, commenting on the organization's alleged concern over the videotaped massacre of the Russian military.

The spokeswoman recalled that the UN was "more than verbose, specific and initiative," when assessing alleged atrocities in the city of Bucha and accusing Moscow of crimes against humanity in this regard.

"As we all remember, they reported about [Russian soldiers being allegedly supplied with] viagra [to rape Ukrainians] from the heart, although they turned out to have no data, or power to collect them," Zakharova added.
