In February, Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine after Kiev intensified attacks on the people's republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. President Vladimir Putin stressed that Moscow aimed to stop the eight-year-long war being waged by Ukraine against the people of Donbass.

Russia has been carrying out precision strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure since October 10, in retaliation for Kiev's terrorist attacks, including a fatal blast on the Crimean Bridge.

The strikes are aimed at power, defense industry, military command and energy infrastructure facilities throughout Ukraine. Since then, air raid alerts have been sounded in Ukrainian regions every day, sometimes all through the country. As a result, Ukraine has faced massive power cuts.

Norway to Double Number of Instructors Training Ukrainian Soldiers - Defense Ministry

The Norwegian government will double the number of instructors involved in the training of the Ukrainian military to 150 people by 2023, the Norwegian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

"Today there are about 75 instructors working in Norway... By 2023, the government plans to increase the number of instructors to about 150 people who together participate in training within the framework of the EU and the UK Interflex training mission," the ministry said.

According to Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram, training and education are crucial for further defense, both for those undergoing basic training and for specialists. "Further support of Ukraine is absolutely necessary," the minister said.

Norway will also make a significant contribution to the EU training mission by allocating 150 million Norwegian kroner ($15.4 million) for the mission's needs, according to the ministry.

Borrell Says Will Discuss Possibility of Russia's Frozen Funds Confiscation at OSCE Talks

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on Thursday that he plans to discuss the legal possibilities of confiscating Russia's frozen funds and their use for needs of Ukraine at the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

"This amount of money has to be used for the reconstruction of Ukraine. So, I will meet with my colleagues Foreign Ministers - today with many more than the Ministers of the European Union. We will explore all legal possibilities to make sure that Russia will pay for the destruction it is causing in Ukraine," Borrell said in a statement.
