Russia started its special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022 after the people's republics of Donetsk and Lugansk asked for protection in the wake of increased attacks by Ukrainian forces.
Since October 10, the Russian armed forces have been performing precision strikes on Ukraine's military and energy infrastructure in response to Ukrainian terrorist attacks on Russia, in particular - the bombing of the Crimean bridge, performed by Ukrainian intelligence services.
Over the past months, air raid alerts have been sounded in Ukrainian regions every day - and according to the Kiev authorities, about 50% of the country's energy infrastructure has been destroyed.

Ukraine's SBU Sanctions 100 'International Observers' for Organizing Referendums
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has sanctioned 100 "international observers" for taking part in organizing referendums on the accession of the Lugansk and Donetsk people's republics (LPR and DPR) and Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to Russia, SBU spokesman Artem Dekhtiarenko said on Thursday.

"Since the beginning of the war, SBU has identified over 6,000 organizers... SBU has initiated the imposition of NSDC's [the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine] sanctions against 100 Russia-controlled 'international observers,'" Dekhtiarenko said in a video on SBU's Telegram.

He said that all the "exposed persons" contributed to the holding of referendums on the accession of the territories to Russia, adding that investigative activities to identify other persons involved in organizing referendums are underway.

Zelensky Rejects Russia's Christmas Truce, Calls It 'Cover Up' to Strengthen Positions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday rejected Moscow's offer for a ceasefire on Orthodox Christmas and called it a "cover-up" to strengthen frontline positions of Russia's armed forces.
"Now Russia wants to use Christmas as a cover-up to at least shortly stop the advance of our guys in Donbass and bring equipment, ammunition, and mobilized men closer to our positions," Zelensky said in an evening address to the nations.
He believes Moscow is using the proposed truce as a "respite" to continue fighting "with renewed vigor." Olexiy Danilov, the secretary of Ukraine's national security and defense council, rejected the offer earlier on Thursday.

UN to Dissolve Fact-Finding Mission to Elenovka
UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) - The United Nations will disband its Elenovka fact-finding mission given that the conditions for safe deployment have not been met, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said on Thursday.
"The Secretary-General has decided to disband his fact-finding mission regarding the 29 July 2022 incident in Elenovka in the absence of conditions required for the deployment of the mission to the site," Dujarric said during a press briefing.
The Russian Defense Ministry has said that the Elenovka detention center was shelled by Ukrainian troops in late July 2022. The death toll from the shelling reached 53 and the number of wounded surpassed 130, according to the local authorities.

Dujarric said the main reason for disbanding the fact-finding mission is the security situation and the lack of "clear safety," Dujarric said.

The United Nations does not feel that it has received them, Duarric added.

Leader of French Euroskeptic Party Slams Macron for Promising Tanks to Ukraine
The leader of France's The Patriots party, Florian Philippot, on Thursday called President Emmanuel Macron's plan to send French-made AMX-10 RC light tanks to Ukraine "madness," arguing that foreign weapon supplies to Kiev only delay peace.

"Macron is sending [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy tanks: this is madness! It means to further strip the French army and keep the war going at all costs! We must stop sending money and weapons and strive for peace: Macron and NATO are clearly doing the opposite," Philippot said on Twitter.

On Wednesday, Macron promised Zelenskyy to supply Kiev with an unspecified number of AMX-10 RC armored combat vehicles. According to French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, the tanks will be delivered to Ukraine within several weeks or months.

Biden Confirms Bradley Fighting Vehicles on Table for Ukraine
US President Joe Biden on Wednesday confirmed that Bradley Fighting Vehicles are on the table for delivery to Ukraine, according to a Bloomberg White House reporter.
"Yes," Biden is quoted as saying when asked if Bradleys are on the table for Ukraine. The statement confirms earlier US media reports about the Biden administration considering the lightly armored vehicles for use by Ukrainian forces.
The infantry transport vehicles are armed with a 25mm autocannon and anti-tank missiles. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has said the West’s provision of arms for Ukraine undermines prospects for a future peace process.
