At least three people were shot dead by a gunman on the campus of Michigan State University on Monday, the university police stated. At 5,200 acres, the campus is considered one of the largest US universities by area.The City of East Lansing has also issued a shelter-in-place order to the greater community. Agents with the FBI's Detroit office and those with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives are responding to the scene.

At least three people were shot dead by a gunman on the campus of Michigan State University on Monday, the university police stated. The authorities said the perpetrator - a 43-year-old man, whose name was not disclosed - died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police also noted that the attacker had no connection to the university. "We have no idea why he came to campus tonight," interim Deputy Chief Chris Rozman said.
