Subscribe
The Day of Remembrance and Sorrow is a significant day observed in CIS states. It is a day dedicated to remembering and honoring those who suffered and lost their lives in the Great Patriotic War. It is a time to pay tribute to the victims and their families, as well as to express gratitude for the resilience and strength shown by the survivors.
On the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, which is celebrated on June 22, the "Candle of Memory" and "Flaming Pictures of War" memorials were held across Russia.
The "Flaming Pictures of War" campaign was born in the Year of Memory and Glory (2020). 15 cities participated at the time. In 2021, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, candles were lit in 128 cities not only in Russia, but also in countries abroad. Among them were Latvia, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Panama, Uzbekistan, and others.
On the night of June 21-22, thousands of people lit candles in memory of everyone they lost during the war.
