Haiti Protests Against Foreign Intervention, Israel Threatens to Keep Palestinian Funds, Trump Investigation Reveals Online Privacy Lessons
In this episode of By Any Means Necessary, hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman are joined by Dr. Jemima Pierre, Haiti/Americas Coordinator for the Black Alliance for Peace to discuss the ongoing threat of foreign intervention in Haiti as a Kenyan assessment mission visited the country, how Haitian civil society responded to the assessment mission and the broader issue of foreign intervention, and how media coverage about violence in Haiti obscures the role of arms trafficking and the Henry government in that violence.
In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Miko Peled, human rights activist and author of “The General’s Son: Journey of an Israeli in Palestine,” and “Injustice, the Story of the Holy Land Foundation Five” to discuss Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s announcement that millions of dollars meant to go to Palestinian communities in Israel would be frozen over allegations of terrorism, how this is just one example of the discrimination that Palestinian citizens in Israel face, and how this and other legislation in Israel reveal the state’s true character as a Jewish democracy.
In the third segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by technologist Chris Garaffa, co-host of the CovertAction Bulletin podcast to discuss how special counsel Jack Smith obtained Donald Trump’s DMs on X and much more in his investigation of Trump’s federal election subversion case and what this reveals X’s compliance with such requests from law enforcement, why users of Venmo and other social media sites should be careful about what information that they have publicly available, and a potential expansion of surveillance legislation in the UK which may violate international law.
Later in the show, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Bryce Greene, Contributor to Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting to discuss the crisis in Niger and how the legacies of French colonialism have influenced the character of the military government and the interests of the Nigerien people, the recently concluded BRICS summit and how the western media’s coverage of it has characterized the bloc as a threat to the world, and how Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s comments on holding elections in Ukraine if the US and Europe fund them showcase the facade of democracy in Ukraine.
