A collaborator aiding Ukrainian intelligence in planning terrorist attacks against Russian military personnel has been detained in St. Petersburg, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Thursday.
"The Russian Federal Security Service in St. Petersburg, as a result of active search measures, has detained a Russian citizen, born in 1977, who, following the orders from the Ukrainian secret services, was providing help in identifying places of residence of the Russian Defense Ministry servicepeople in the region, as well as the cars used by them and their family members with an aim to plot and carry out terrorist attacks against them," the FSB said.
The FSB has confiscated the detainee's communication devices containing messages sent by Ukrainian coordinators.
A criminal case was opened for aiding and abetting in the commission of a terrorist act.
The FSB also warned Russian citizens that the Ukrainian secret services are actively using messengers and social media to recruit potential terrorists and saboteurs.
