The revised doctrine entails a rapid and broad response to any attack against Iran.It does not necessarily entail preemptive strikes, though Akraminia did recall one such example when Iran hit a US base in Jordan before the US joined Israel’s attack on Iran.On February 28, 2026, the US and Israel attacked Iran once again, prompting the Iranian forces to strike at US assets all across the Gulf.

Iran Rolls Out Offensive Strategy in Face of US Threat
Iran’s military doctrine has been changing from its previously “defensive posture toward an offensive one” amid the wars with the United States and Israel, Iranian army spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia told IRNA news agency.
The revised doctrine entails a rapid and broad response to any attack against Iran.
It does not necessarily entail preemptive strikes, though Akraminia did recall one such example when Iran hit a US base in Jordan before the US joined Israel’s attack on Iran.
In June 2025, the US and Israel launched a joint airstrike campaign against Iran under the pretext of halting its nuclear program, which lasted twelve days and ended in the face of fierce Iranian retaliation against Israeli forces.
On February 28, 2026, the US and Israel attacked Iran once again, prompting the Iranian forces to strike at US assets all across the Gulf.
