Saudi-Led Coalition Announces Large-Scale Offensive on Hodeidah Port in Yemen

DOHA (Sputnik) - The Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates announced the launch of a large-scale military operation to liberate the Yemeni port city of Al Hodeidah on the Red Sea from Shiite militants from Ansar Allah movement, the commander of coalition forces on Yemen's west coast Gen. Ali Taniji said Tuesday.

The situation in the war-torn country has deteriorated sharply since June, when the Saudi-led coalition launched an offensive to seize Al Hodeidah, a key port city for humanitarian aid, from the Houthis.
