"This is a great day for the State of Israel. A great day for the people of Israel. A great day for the future of Israel," his office quoted Netanyahu as saying on Twitter.
Netanyahu called the latest curbs on oil trade, shipping and banking on Monday as "the most severe sanctions imposed on Iran since the beginning of the effort to stop its aggression."
He described President Donald Trump’s decision to re-introduce sanctions as a "courageous, determined and important" move that, he said, would contribute to stability and security.

The United States wothdrew a 2015 nuclear deal with Iran in spring and re-imposed two rounds of sanctions that were waived in return for Tehran scaling down its atomic energy program.
Possible Meeting With Putin
Meanwhile, Yacov Livne, the director of the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s Euro-Asia Department stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hopes to discuss the issue of Iran at the possible upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Of course, the Iranian topic is very important. We see the negative role played by Iran … We have already said that we will not allow Iran to create new bases in the region in general and specifically in Syria. So, of course, the Iranian theme will be raised," Livne told reporters, while answering a question on whether Tehran will be discussed by the two leaders.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said that Netanyahu expects to meet with Putin in Paris on November 11, however, the format of the meeting is so far unclear.
However, later in the day, Zeev Elkin, minister of Jerusalem affairs and environmental protection, explained to reporters that the format of this Sunday’s events in Paris to mark the end of World War I will not allow Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to meet.
"The Paris gathering has its own rules that preclude a separate bilateral," Zeev Elkin, minister of Jerusalem affairs and environmental protection, explained to reporters.
He said Putin and Netanyahu had floated a possibility for a meeting during a recent phone call but no date had been set.
Speaking about the possible meeting, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on October 30 that Putin’s schedule in Paris only envisioned a conversation with US leader Donald Trump, but noted that Putin and Netanyahu could meet on the go.
The Armistice Day celebrations will be held on November 11 in the French capital. A total of 80 world leaders are set to attend the events hosted by France.
