Polish President Andrzej Duda has called an urgent meeting with the military leadership after a violation of the country's airspace by an object from Ukraine, the presidential office reports.
"President Andrzej Duda has held a phone call conversation with Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. Today, there will be an urgent meeting in the National Security Bureau with Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz, Chief of the General Staff Wieslaw Kukula, and Armed Forces Operational Commander Maciej Klisz at 1 p.m. [local time]," the office said.
In turn, the Polish Government Information Center reportted that an urgent meeting on the incident was held between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the Chief of the General Staff, the Minister of National Defense, and the heads of the Internal Security Agency, the Military Intelligence Service, and the Military Counterintelligence Service.
Earlier, the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces reported that an unidentified air object entered Polish airspace from the Ukrainian side, it was accompanied by air defense, and then disappeared from radar.
"This morning, an unidentified aerial object entered the airspace of the Republic of Poland from the border with Ukraine and from the moment of crossing the border to the disappearance of the signal was monitored by the radars of the country's air defense system," the military operational command said on X.
In accordance with current procedures, "the operational commander of the armed forces mobilized the forces and means at its disposal," the military added.
