Nations across the world are ramping up measures against the spread of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, in order to prevent a second outbreak. Even though many countries have announced certain relaxations of the COVID-induced lockdown, some restrictions on public gatherings and businesses will remain in place.
The number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases across the globe has surpassed 3.8 million as of 7 May and the virus has claimed nearly 270,000 lives, according to the latest tally by Johns Hopkins University.
The highest number of those infected has been registered in the United States, with over 1,250,000 confirmed cases. In Europe, the UK, Spain, and Italy are viewed as the main hot spots of the outbreak.
