SEVASTOPOL (Sputnik) – Russia strengthened its positions as a sea power despite the complicated situation in the world, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Wednesday.

"The Marine Doctrine strengthened positions of our country as a sea power in the well-known complicated international situation," Rogozin said during the jubilee meeting of the Government Marine Board in Sevastopol.

Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the new version of the country's Marine Doctrine in July 2015.

The doctrine implies a strong presence of the nation's Navy in the Mediterranean Sea, strengthening of Russia’s positions in the Arctic and close naval cooperation with India and China.
