"We should not hurt the audience," he said to journalists.
At issue are the amendments to the law on the media. In line with amendments, the media coverage of terrorist act consequences on TV will be limited. This draft law will be submitted for the State Duma's consideration in April.
Gryzlov recalled that this issue had already been repeatedly discussed.
"I attended a meeting with heads of the leading TV channels and major newspapers after the tragedy in Dubrovka [in October 2002 Chechen terrorists took hostage the viewers and actors of the Nord Ost musical in the theatre centre in Moscow's Dubrovka district]," said Gryzlov. "We talked about the media coverage which hampered the work of law-enforcers at the time, because TV reports basically informed terrorists about power structures' intentions regarding the settlement of the critical situation."
