The back taxes payments in July are planned to amount to $1.25-1.3 billion, including $550-600 million of the value added tax reimbursement, the statement points out.
The Russian Taxation Ministry's tax claims to YUKOS for 2000 reach 99.4 billion rubles ($1 is approximately 29 rubles).
"The company stated earlier that it did not have available funds to pay the whole amount", YUKOS recalls.
The company will be ready to make additional payments within a reasonable period of time by attracting funds and sale of some assets provided that the attachment is removed. At the same time, the uncertainty in terms of new tax claims (the issue that YUKOS attempted to settle within the framework of its proposal to the Russian government on global settlement) and the arrest of some bank accounts narrow the company's potential of attracting borrowed funds.
"YUKOS will continue to exert every effort to settle the situation with tax payments for 2000 seeking complete consideration of the interests of all the parties concerned, including the state and the company's employees, shareholders, partners and creditors", reads the statement.
On July 8, the company forwarded another proposal on settling the back taxes. YUKOS is ready to transfer the $8 billion of back taxes for 2000-2003 to the budget within three years.
