MOSCOW, January 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's top prosecutors intend to ask UK authorities to investigate the death one of the founders of oil company Yukos, who died in London last week, a law enforcement source said Monday.
Yury Golubev was an important witness in the Prosecutor General's Office's ongoing case against a number of senior executives of the now bankrupt Russian company.
"There is reason to believe that he died a violent death," the source said.
Golubev, 65, was found dead in his London apartment on January 8.
A post mortem showed his "death was by natural causes," a statement by the London Metropolitan Police said.
Konstantin Kagalovsky, a friend of Golubev, said earlier his death could have been caused by a heart attack.
