TBILISI, November 3 (RIA Novosti) - Several thousand people have gathered in front of Georgian parliament on the second day of protests demanding early parliamentary elections next spring and the release of political prisoners.
The Georgian leadership has extended the term of parliament to five years and set parliamentary elections for next fall. The government has also denied that Georgia has any political prisoners.
At night, several young people tried to storm the parliament building but security services stopped their efforts and opposition leaders urged calm.
The protests challenge President Mikheil Saakashvili who the opposition accuses of increasing his clout and moving toward totalitarianism.
