The construction and operation of the Russian pavilion at the upcoming Shanghai World Expo 2010 will cost over 1 billion rubles ($33 million). The Sun-shaped Russian pavilion at the Better City, Better Life exhibition to open on May 1 will be built by Russian specialists from scratch, not leased from the host country, for the first time in 30 years. It will take up an area of 6,000 sq m. The architectural design includes a cube shaped main building surrounded by 12 white-and-gold towers symbolizing the 12 months or a watch dial with 12 hands. Russian cities will display their products in the towers.
