The combine harvesters used by Russian farmers are “very good” according to President Dmitry Medvedev, although “some minor points might need to be improved,” he said, quoting machine operators.
Each of the two leaders was accompanied by an experienced combine harvester operator who counseled their charges, but Putin and Medvedev managed their respective machines themselves.
Putin confirmed that the harvester is easy to control. He said it was his first time, while the president said he had driven a harvester once before, but had done no actual harvesting. This machine is as good for giving rides to girls as for harvesting crops, he joked.
The president and prime minister said they were ready to support the national agriculture. “I don’t know about the wages (for harvesting), but in any case we’ve mastered the skill. We can always help if you need more hands,” Medvedev joked.
