Russia dominated possession but were unable to convert pressure into goals against Lithuania on Tuesday, as their penultimate Euro 2012 warm-up ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw.

Lithuania hit the crossbar twice, once inside the first minute when Arunas Klimavicius looped a clearance onto his own woodwork, and at seconds later at the other end when Vytautas Andriuskevicius hit a vicious half-volley onto Igor Akinfeev's bar.

"We should have closed them down more, we obviously have some way to go," left-back Dmitry Kombarov said.

Andrei Arshavin, Roman Shirokov and substitute Roman Pavlyuchenko came closest for Russia, who were a shadow of their attacking selves in the 1-1 draw against Uruguay in Moscow on Friday.

The match was played in neutral territory in Nyon, Switzerland.

Advocaat's team will play their final warm-up game Friday against Italy, also in Switzerland.

Russia have aspirations to repeat the feat of reaching the Euro 2008 semifinals, but Tuesday's game could easily have spoiled their tune-up.

Advocaat made three changes to the team that earned the draw against the South American champions, bringing in Alexander Kerzhakov for Pavel Pogrebnyak, Dmitry Kombarov for Yuri Zhirkov at left-back, and Akinfeev for Zenit's Vyacheslav Malafeev.

It could have started a lot worse than the woodwork early on, as Akinfeev rushed out to smother a close-range shot from striker Darvydas Sernas, who was unmarked on a corner.

Russia bit back, with Lithuania goalkeeper Ernestas Setkus denying Alexander Kerzhakov, who shot on the turn after a high through ball from Arshavin.

Kerzhakov, who canceled out Luis Suarez's opener in last week's 1-1 draw against Uruguay in Moscow, hit the outside of the post from an acute angle on an 18th minute counterattack.

Roman Shirokov, who was later subsituted for Igor Semshov as a precaution after receiving what appeared to be an ankle knock, went one-on-one with Setkus later but the goalkeeper won the race to the ball.

Arshavin then lofted a curling shot over, dropping his arms in frustration.

In the final seconds of the first half Lithuania defender Linas Pilibaitis lost a tooth after he jaw collided with Marat Izmailov's head.

Palvyuchenko made an immediate impact in the second half, stinging Setkus's palms from distance.

On the hour mark, Lithuania substitute Ramunas Radavicius sent a shot just wide on a counterattack.

The Lithuanians frustrated Russia by packing the midfield, making a passing game all but impossible.

Soon after Shirokov departed on 72 minutes, Akinfeev fumbled a long-range free kick from Ramūnas Radavicius before saving the rebound from Darvydas Sernas.

Radavicius burst through with eight minutes left but shanked his shot high and wide from a good position.

Pavlyuchenko's late volley from Arshavin's cross went wide as Russia spurned the chance to snatch victory at the death.

Lithuania failed to qualify for Euro 2012, finishing fourth in their qualification group.
