Russian Formula One driver Vitaly Petrov was bitterly disappointed by once again failing to finish ahead of his Caterham teammate Heikki Kovalainen in qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, he has said.
Petrov will start Sunday's race 19th, the sixth time he has qualified behind Kovalainen in seven races this season.
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel took pole for the second year running in Montreal to increase his chances of taking the championship lead from Ferrari's Fernando Alonso on Sunday.
"I'm not all that happy with where we ended up today," Petrov said on the Caterham website Saturday.
"In free practice three the car felt really good and I was pretty confident I could have beaten my teammate today."
Set-up problems could have cost him the place, Petrov said.
"The temperatures rose between the end of free practice three and the start of qualification and maybe we could have found something that would have helped manage the change in conditions better."
The team had a positive weeknd, which leaves hope for a "strong race" on Sunday, Petrov added.
Petrov is ranked 23rd of 24 drivers in the championship after six races in which he has failed to finish higher than 16th, with Kovalainen up to 19th thanks to his 13th place finish at the last race in Monaco.
