LONDON, May 11 (R-Sport) - Switzerland stayed unbeaten at the world hockey championships Saturday with a 4-1 win over Denmark that ensured the tournament sensation of a quarterfinal place.
Switzerland stays top of the Stockholm preliminary round group, one point ahead of Canada, and with only games against lowly Norway and Denmark remaining, could easily remain unbeaten in the round.
Denmark is seventh in the eight-team group, with just one win from five games.
Luca Cunti put Switzerland ahead on a power-play at 1:55 of the first period, scoring at the second attempt after a Simon Bodenmann shot was saved.
A Ryan Gardner goal on 9:43 of the first proved the game winner, and Reto Suri and Nino Niederreiter also scored.
Earlier in the day, the U.S. beat France 4-1 in Helsinki.
Later in the Stockholm group, Sweden takes on Slovenia before Norway and Belarus play. In the other group in Helsinki, Finland plays Austria and Germany faces off against Latvia.
