MOSCOW, February 21 (RIA Novosti) – A Russian ex-convict celebrating his recent release from prison killed a friend with an electric shock because he thought the man had sex with his girlfriend, investigators said Thursday.
The 25-year-old ex-con, the son of an electrician, wired up the man’s body and plugged it into an electrical outlet after initially knocking him out with a punch, authorities in the Ural Mountain region of Sverdlovsk said in a statement.
The suspect, who mistook the man for dead after the punch, electrocuted him to make it look like he died of a heart attack, but investigators were immediately tipped off about the true cause of death due to the burn marks on the body, the statement said.
The ex-con, who previously served time for an undisclosed non-violent crime, now faces a return to jail for 15 years on charges of intentionally inflicting grave bodily harm that resulted in death.
